I just learned of Mr. Gabersek's passing. I met him at the Reading Airshow and was so taken by his charm, humility and patriotism. He truly was one of the finest examples of the "Greatest Generation". God bless you Sargent Johnny. You will be deeply missed.

To an American Hero: It was my honor to have met on a number of occassions, "Uncle Johnny" during his visit to the World War II Memorial. I offer on last time: "Thank you for your service." You and others from the Greatest Generation are the reasons why we are free today.

God Bless You and Your Family. George Volunteer, National Park Service

I am sorry for your loss of a very special person in your life. I never met him, but after reading his story I felt compelled to respond. He possessed special gifts that he gave to everyone around him by just being himself and advocating for children to stay in school and pursue their education. Which is so important. In so many ways, loss shows us what is precious, while love teaches us who we are. Remember him by cherishing the special moments you had together and celebrate his legacy, by continuing to honor the brave and heroic military men and women through your websites. Thats what he would have wanted!

I did not know you but was at the d-day invasion site and stoped by the cemetary, took a photo of Amin Isbir, I was drawn to it for some reason. I am glad I was as I was able to find your memorial while looking up his. You sound like a great person, God Bless you for your service and to your life. Thanks for your family for keeping it alive. To my best friend, I will forever remember you, your kindness, the way you never complained, looked out for others, encouraged children to stay and school, be good to their brothers and sisters, and to their parents. I will miss you, am missing you now, and will always miss hearing your voice, seeing your smile, and seeing what you saw. You will have to look through my eyes now my friend as I try to be someone just like you.
